In fact, large majorities of Americans agree that fair elections and a system of checks and balances are essential to a strong democracy. Restoring Checks and Balances

Checks and balances are the cornerstone of the U.S. Constitution’s design. The Founders created a government in which each branch can limit the others, specifically to prevent any person or group from taking full control.
