Our First 100 Days: A Plan for Balance and Rights

Updated: Aug 29, 2025

The Checks & Rights Party is committed to action from day one. The first 100 days are about restoring trust, setting clear priorities, and proving that government can work for the people. Our plan is simple: strengthen the guardrails of democracy and protect the everyday rights of citizens.

Key Priorities

1. Restore Checks & Balances

  • Pass the Separation of Powers Restoration Act, protecting Inspectors General, requiring transparency for legal opinions that shape executive power, and establishing binding ethics rules for the Supreme Court.

  • Begin steps toward term limits for justices to encourage renewal and accountability.

2. Rein in Emergency & War Powers

  • Enact the Emergency Powers Reform Act: automatic expiration of emergency powers unless renewed by Congress, with full disclosure of the authorities in use.

  • Pass the War Powers Modernization Act, ensuring that military action requires clear congressional approval and regular review.

3. Protect Rights in the Digital Age

  • Expand privacy protections with a warrant-first rule for government access to personal data, including location and communications.

  • Strengthen oversight of surveillance courts by ensuring independent advocates are present in major cases.

4. Ensure Fair & Transparent Elections

  • Pass the Evidence-Based Elections Act, requiring paper ballots, voter-verifiable audit trails, and routine risk-limiting audits.

  • Support nationwide adoption of ranked-choice voting where states choose to implement it, alongside independent redistricting commissions to end partisan gerrymandering.

  • Restore key protections of the Voting Rights Act to safeguard every citizen’s access to the ballot.

5. Clean & Open Government

  • Introduce the Clean Elections & Transparency Act, requiring real-time disclosure of campaign donations and political advertising.

  • Strengthen whistleblower protections to encourage accountability from within government.

Why the First 100 Days Matter

By moving quickly, we show that good governance is possible. These reforms aren’t about partisanship — they’re about balance, fairness, and the basic promise that leaders are accountable to the people they serve.
